2021 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2021 Kia Seltos: Go Premium With the CX-30

The 2021 CX-30 offers a versatile crossover design that's spacious enough for comfort and versatility without sacrificing agility. Included with select models, the CX-30 now features a 2.5-litre turbocharged powertrain that adds a new spirit to any adventure. Available i-Activ AWD and safety systems boost confidence in many driving conditions throughout the year. Overall, the CX-30 makes driving effortless and luxurious.

To illustrate these points, we compare the CX-30 to the 2021 Kia Seltos.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 powers towards excitement

The CX-30 lines up three powertrains that offer a wide palette of performance options. The CX-30 GX includes a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that outputs 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. It is a great choice for efficiency-minded drivers who want solid power in town and on the highway. The CX-30 GS and GT models include a 2.5-litre four-cylinder which increases horsepower to 186 and torque to 186 lb-ft.

The CX-30 GT also offers a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. This is the most capable powertrain offered in the comparison.

Four out of five 2021 Kia Seltos models include a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that is limited to 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. This is the least capability offered out of any powertrain in this comparison.

Even with the low output of the Seltos, the CX-30's 2.0-litre manages to have practically identical city fuel consumption ratings. The Seltos SX Turbo includes a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that increases horsepower to 175 and torque to 195 lb-ft. This type of performance is most similar to the CX-30's 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine.

The CX-30 is set up for driver input with a six-speed automatic transmission that includes manual drive mode and a drive selection switch. Most Seltos models have a standard IVT.

Overall, the CX-30 offers the best powertrains and output.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 extends safety

The CX-30 offers many safety technologies that differ from the Seltos. For example, base models in the CX-30 sport an 8,8-inch infotainment screen that displays Mazda’s intuitive system filled with advanced features. The Seltos’ base screen is only 8-inches in diameter and harbours a less user-friendly system.
